The Earth’s Environment @ The Coal Loader is a Geography fieldwork study focusing on how the environment supports people and other living things. Students will learn about the concept of sustainability and explore the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability for various examples of sustainable living. They will also explore how people can use places and environments more sustainably.

The Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability, Waverton. Please note the bus drop off and pick up point is The Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability at 2 Balls Head Rd, Waverton. The Centre is also within walking distance from Waverton Station.

On the day activities
During the full day fieldwork excursion, students will undertake the following activities:
Map and compass use to locate human and natural features
weather data collection using scientific equipment
an introduction to sustainability definitions and examples
musical peer interviews about sustainability
“I Spy” around the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability
Parachute games.
Cost
- All schools in North Sydney LGA - Free
- Other DoE Schools: $15 per student
- Non-DoE Schools $25 per student (GST free). Minimum cost of $600.
