The "S3 Factors That Shape Places at The Coalloader" program explores the natural, cultural, and economic factors influencing the development of places, using The Coalloader as a case study. It is designed for primary students to engage with local history and geography through interactive learning.
About this excursion
Factors that Shape Places at The Coal Loader is a Geography fieldwork study focusing on how people and environments influence one another. Students will engage with the environment to learn how people influence places and manage the spaces within them. Students will also develop an understanding of sustainability and its importance as an influence on human design and action.

Activities on the day
- Investigate a wetland area, its function and the biodiversity through observations
- Analyse what waste is, how it impacts our environment and solutions like a circular economy for products
- Use ID charts to observe pollinators and support biodiversity by creating pollinator seed bombs and water stands
- Redesign a home to incorporate environmentally sustainable features.
